Rams Fan

I have been a fan of the Rams since I was a little kid.  I pre date their move to St. Louis so I feel I am lot more qualified then all these slap dicks I am hearing on local STL sports talk.  Man I have never heard a bigger collection of mornons in my entire life.  These are some of the things I have been hearing.

Fire the coach!  Yes I can see that you might want this guy to be gone.  I can see that you were spoiled for a few years with the 'greatest show of turf' but I hate to break it to you, those days are long gone.  i know you are frustrated with the teams record, I am too.  But is this really on the coach?  Yes some of the decisions he has made this season have been head scratchers.  But from what I see of the team is they are playing hard they are trying and at this point in the season what else can you ask for.  This guy has never blamed his assistant coaches, the players or the GM when in truth he easily could.  Let us not forget that basically everyone on the team is hurt.  But let's judge and fire a coach because of that.  Is what I see is a defense that is playing great given they have a lot of injuries.  They can't sustain because their offense is so damn bad.

Suck for Luck!  Yeah this is a popular one around for NFL fans.  First off you do not suck for any player ever.  There is no bigger crap shoot then the NFL draft.  So you want the Rams to pick Andrew Luck and trade Sam Bradford?  That is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life.  Sam Bradford who is only in his second year, who has been hurt most of the season, had a new offense put into place without having training camp to work with the other players and oh yeah he has no one to throw to.  How in the fuck will picking Andrew Luck help any of those problems?  I have the right answer, it won't.

If the Rams get the first pick in the draft they will have a very valuable pick in their hands.  The promise and hope of Andrew Luck is more valuable than anything.  Having said that if the Rams get the number one overall pick in the draft, you trade that fucking pick.  You work starting the second the draft seeding is set and you find the best trade possible.  You find the one team that is willing to over pay to draft Luck and to start rebuilding your team.  Because let's be honest, they need a lot of players and lot of depth which they do not have.

The OC must go!  Yeah I am almost with you on this.  I like Josh McDaniels, I really do but damn I really don't know about him right now.  What I see with this Offense is they are are trying to play well outside of what they can do realistically.  Yes we want to have a high scoring high energy Offense, but you need to look around you.  Look and see the team has a second year QB, that you did not have a training camp to get players used to the system.  You have to know that.  You have to know that you do not have the WR crew to run this Offense.  You have to know that the best Offensive player is Steven Jackson.  You have you know these things.  I know these things and I am just a fan.  I know that if this team was going to win they had to start simple and add complex things later.  No, what they did is they went for broke with the shitty team they have and wondered why it wasn't working.  Then when the O line started getting hurt, when the WRs started getting hurt, when Bradford started getting hurt, they just kept going.  I honestly do not understand this at all.  The Rams can win with this team if they played smarter football.  I don't know how many times I saw they had one yard to go and either took Jackson out of the game or went for a stupid pass.  So I am not sure McDaniels can or is willing to adjust to the circumstance, if that is the case then yes, good bye.

The GM must go!  Yes, yes he should.  This is the guy that drafted Donnie Avery when I was screaming and yelling to take DeSean Jackson, the Eagles took him the very next pick.  Bill Devaney used to be the head scout for the team and somehow wound up as the GM.  This guy would not know talent if it fell into his lap.  Seriously, this guy is flat out terrible.  Yes I know the Rams had a chance last year to make the Playoffs and lost.  I know that a lot of people picked them to win the Division this year.  I think I was the only one to look at this team like they really are.  They way overpreformed last year big time.  Nobody thought they would be as good as they were.  But they still didn't make the playoffs.  And they still had pretty shitty NFL talent on that team.  They won in spite of that.  They would have had a much better season this year if the team didn't have so many injuries.  It is to the credit of the coach that they have been as good as they have been.  The GM has given him no players to work with.  If this guy is still at the helm come draft time I know he is going to take Luck and have Bradford and Luck battle to start.  That is just how smart this guy is, which is to say not very.

So Rams fans calm down.  I know we don't like seeing the team we root for loose year after year.  Remember I was there for the 80's and the 90's you weren't.  But you have to realize that stability is the best thing for this team.  Sapgs is a good coach that still has some learning to do.  But given what he has to work with he is doing a fairly good job.  He has delegated the Offensive play calling to the OC, which a good HC will do.  Turns out the OC might not have what it takes or is just too hard headed to make a difference.  

The bottom line is this, you need to have players to win.  The Rams do not have enough NFL talent on their team to compete.  That is what needs to change.  Keep the staff in tact with the big question there being the OC.  But the one thing that is going to change every single year are the players.  The GM needs to be held accountable for the players they sign. 

Pay Me!

This week after another pathetic loss by the Rams I had enough.  I decided to go to the dark side and start to listen to St. Louis sports talk and I found two things.  One, the Rams are so fucking bad that nobody cares anymore.  In fact they just expect them to lose and have nothing negative or positive to say about the team.  The second thing I found out is those people LOVE one Albert Pujols.  And when I say love, I mean that many of them would kill their first born just for him to sign.


You see Albert Pujols is one of the best Baseball players I have ever seen with my own two eyes.  And in my 32 years I have seen a lot of really good Baseball players in person.  But there is a problem.  Yes as in life all good things come to an end and in St.  Louis they are fearing the worst.  Pujols, who gave the Cardinals serval opportunities to sign him to a long term contract before he became a free agent and they chose to let him go on the free market.  They felt that Pujols is loyal to the fans, loyal to the team that drafted him, loyal to the two World Series titles that he helped bring the team and loyal to the legacy of being a Cardinal.  Wrong, very very wrong.  


Like other athletes all around the world, especially ones at the top of their game get paid.  And for those of you dick wads that complain about the amount of money they make, shut your fucking mouth.  I am so sick and tired of hearing people call in saying that these guys make too much money.  That they have to work full time and barely get by.  Stop crying, please.  Seriously, world class athletes are something you and I will never be.  Added to the fact entertainers get paid mad cash.  Think about do you complain when Tom Cruise makes 25 million for a movie?  No, you don't.  In fact you probably don't even care about it like you do with a professional athlete.


And when I hear people complain about stupid shit like he is going to leave for the money it makes me sick.  By saying that you are also saying that you would stay working at the local liquor store when 7-11 came calling offering you a $.10 raise.  Your broke ass would jump all over that.  You cannot tell me otherwise.  So why hold athletes in a different light from yourself?  


Athletes are entertainers.  We pay in various was to watch them do what they do.  They play to get paid and no matter what the money always wins.  So Cardinals fans when he leaves for slightly more money in another few days don't get mad.  Just ask yourself what you would do if you were him.  But then again I am probably asking you peons too much to divorce yourself from being a fan.  Because at the end of the day that's why you are pissed, he will no longer be a part of the team you root for.  Or maybe your feeble mind has truly convinced you that you should have been him.  That it should have been you.  If only your high School coach would have put you in.  My god, if only your dad pulled out would be more appropriate.  

Stop Crying: The BCS Got it Right

All fucking day long I have been hearing people complaining about the BCS title game, which will be a rematch between LSU and Alabama.  Now for those that do not know FBS implemented a system years ago that would try to ensure that the top two team in the country would play for the FBS championship.  To do this, they decided, along with the biggest conferences in College Football to come up with a system that would keep the rich richer and the poor poorer.  In this they decided that the Number 1 and 2 teams would be determined by a computer system that would take into consideration a number of metrics to decide how those teams would be determined.  Now I am not going to say the system is without its flaws, and small changes over the years were made to correct some of the glaring issues that came up.  No you could still have four undefeated teams, and then what are you going to do?  Or you could have a year like this year.

Yes this year, you have a clear cut #1 in LSU but the next three teams after that the picture gets a little bit muttled.  #2 Alabama has one loss, a 9-6 loss to LSU, a great game, a classic defensive game where everything mattered at all time.  #3 Oklahoma State University also has one loss, except they lost to a team they were favored to beat by 24 points!  Now they are the popular pick by fans to be in National Title Game.  I am not saying they don’t have a point, it is very easy to argue for this team, they played well, they did a lot, they are exciting to watch, they are not in the SEC and they possibly should not have played the game in which they lost.  The school decided to play a game after a tragedy struck the University when a plane carrying some key members of their Women’s Basketball team crashed, killing them.  The second time in about a decade that has happened to that school, the first time it affected the men’s team in which players died.  But they played the game against Iowa St and they lost.  A shocking loss none the less.  Then you get to #4, the very overrated Stanford who’s one loss came to Oregon.  The game wasn’t even close and Stanford, who in my opinion has the best college Quarterback I have seen in years has no speed at all.  Because of that they were run off the field by Oregon.  So I don’t want to hear about them playing in the title game.  And to be fair I am not hearing their name at all, even thought I live in the Bay Area.

Now we have to get the crux of the issue which is jealousy.  I am a USC fan and through the actions of one Reggie Bush, they cannot play in a Bowl Game until next year.  Also, they will have scholarships taken away from them starting in 2012.  So I don’t have a horse in this race, nor do I care.  But the bottom line is this, the SEC has had the past 5 National Champions.  They have beaten teams from all of the other major conferences and usually they are not even close.  So this year we are guaranteed a sixth since both LSU and Alabama are in the title game.  Stop your crying about Alabama having their shot and not winning earlier this year.  Both OSU and Stanford had their shots too and both lost when they needed to win, so next. 

So other than seeing a rematch of a great game, why are you crying?  Neither of those two teams have a snow balls chance in hell of beating LSU.  Take that to the bank, and save your playoff talk.  This year it would still go down to the teams we have now.  This year despite the log jam of records the BCS computer system got it right.  You cannot argue differently, at least this year.

A History of a Bitch, The Zack Story

I am sure we all remember this one, if you don't I will refresh your memory. Zack, who downloaded the Fantasy App for his Droid phone, which coincidentally was not officially available for the Droid at that time. I know this because I also had one and looked to see if the app was there, it was only for the iPhone at that point in time. So like anyone that made a mistake, Zack threatened to quit the league if he didn't get one player back. Never mind the person that picked up the player in question, what did they get? Nothing, did they complain about dropping a player to pick one up then having to find a new player, no. did that person threaten to quit the league, no.

Okay, so I obviously made the mistake of downloading the Fantasy app for my droid, and while looking at points on my team, it crashed, and Cain had been dropped. I claimed him back right away, but now he's on Mike's team somehow. I need him back, and not to sound weak, but if not, I'm out.

So I just wanted to say, in case any of you guys thought I was buckling to Zack threatening to quit. I wasn't. He told me about him dropping Matt Cain when it happened and I didn't react fast enough. Nobody is at fault and I'm definitely not doing anybody any favors.

Things seemed to be alright at this point. I know a few people that also participate in the league were upset by how the Matt Cain thing was handled. But we did not let it get to us, we moved on from it opting to try and win.

First, you must be an arrogant son of a bitch who really thinks they're getting away with "pretending" to talk shit, when in all reality, the person they're doing this to is way ahead of them and knows exactly what they're doing.

Second, you need to have a team full of super-all stars so you can back up your claim to beating someone else's "sorry ass team" the whole season, when it's their first ATTEMPT at playing fantasy baseball and they're still beating your ass.

And last but not certainly not least, you are required to lack a soul, and get some twisted pleasure in bad-mouthing people you made believe would be an equal participant in this.

Seamus, I love the league, I've seen all the episodes many times. I understand people fuck with each other, and through high-school and until now you've always given me shit and I've given it back, but nothing like this. fucking with someone and just degrading only ONE person over this thing is very different. No, you don't have to be nothing but nice to me, that's not at ALL what I'm saying. But the only shit I see on here, is from you or Rob, and it's nothing but pretty fucked up insults about my team and how I should quit, which I'm not going to do. And my team isn't lucky, and I'm definitely not lucky. I don't know as much about this stuff as you guys apparently, but I do my research and try and do what I can, and I don't putt down other people's teams. I don't hear shit from Sean or Peter or Conor or your dad or uncle or robs brother, so it's not like everyone's talking shit about everyone. It's everyone talking shit about me. I'm sorry, but I don't degrade people's anything, nor do I imply everything they've done in this is nothing but a fluke and I should be thankful for this one lone win. That's all.

Obviously Zack, was hurt on some level by comments I made about him wanting to quit if he did not get his was. Zack, trust me when I say this, most of the league thought you were being childish and out of line with that.

Things went quite for a period of time, that was until Seamus Decided to tell Zack to fill his roster with positions players.

You're the only person who has empty slots on his starting roster. You're playing with less position players so that you have more bench slots to hold pitchers. It's basically cheating. If I could edit the rules without having to re draft I would. But you need to fill up your position players, it's unfair to everyone else.

I took the liberty of changing a few of Zack's spelling mistakes, and yes I did have a typo in my response it should have said "Stop crying about not being a veteran and (that should have been "of" not "and" we all make mistake) Fantasy Sports, none of us are you stupid bitch ass fuck." The reason I said this was because this was the second time he threatened to quit the league if he didn't get his way. As for Zack's accusation that I am a pile puke, my name is "Rob" and everyone hates me, I have no response to that. I will say this though, Seamus and I had no conversations about you changing your roster, that is his business and solely his decision on content and how he asked you.

I don't know how old you are, but if you are under 13 I can see how you feel quitting something makes sense. I am a full grown adult who when things don't go his way, raises his chin and moves on. I figure out a way for it to work. And I don't know why you think I am a veteran of Fantasy Baseball, this is the first time that I have played aside from ten years ago when I made a league with our own rules and had three other people playing. So, no I am not a veteran of Fantasy Baseball, I am just a baseball fan that knows good players from different teams, that isn't my fault. Also, I am fairly certain that the majority of people in this league have never played before, so you are not unique in that Zack.

The bottom line is you are doing something that goes against the spirit of the game and if you know Baseball at all, there are a ton of unwritten rules. I checked this morning and saw that NOBODY else playing has open field positions on their team (I checked this morning), you are the only one. And yes Pujols is on your DL and will be back in about five more weeks, but now you have an open spot on your roster for a 1st baseman and one other spot that should be filled. I think what Seamus was trying to tell you is that what you are doing is not in the spirit of the game and you now have an unfair advantage over everyone else. Since he is the manager of the league and looking at what is in the best interests of everyone who is playing, he made a decision. It is unfortunate that his decision is in regards to how you are managing your team, but it is you who apparently is trying to do something that is not in the spirit of the game. And it is you who is exploiting your roster and being unfair to all the other players in the league who are within the spirit of the game. Also, it was you that thanked Seamus for setting your team back with YOUR Matt Cain screw up and it was you who said you us all a favor.

If you are upset that I have an opinion, well that sounds like you have a personal problem. I am a player in this league and yes I have an opinion, but since it is about you and how you are running your team you don't like it. And really Zack, do you think that none of us see that you are acting like a spoiled brat who is not getting their way. Man up son.
